Celebrating 45 Years With This Forgotten Dish.

To help celebrate 45 years since opening in East Melbourne, Geppetto Trattoria is bringing back a nostalgic Italian dining tradition rarely seen on Melbourne menus today. From Tuesday 2nd June until Saturday 6th June, we will will reintroduce our cult-classic Pasta Mista experience for just $19.81 per person, including traditional stovetop moka coffee, in honour of the restaurant’s founding year of 1981.
Rather than a single pasta dish, Pasta Mista is a generous celebration of different pastas and sauces served together on one plate, reflecting the warm, abundant style of Italian dining many Melbourne diners grew up with, but rarely encounter today.
For Geppetto's, the dish represents a different era of hospitality and dining culture in Melbourne.
“For us, this dish represents a different era of hospitality,” says Adriano Cea (pictured below with father Nino Cea).
“For dad, this was a dish that signalled a new era of dining in Melbourne back in 1981, so we thought we’d bring it back to celebrate and at a fun price-point that is accessible for most. It’s nostalgic. It’s generous. It’s the kind of food people remember sharing with family and friends around the table. We wanted to bring back something that feels comforting, abundant and unapologetically old-school Italian.”
The week-long anniversary offering also coincides with the beginning of Melbourne’s winter dining season and celebrates the restaurant’s long-standing connection to the city’s Italian food culture.
Guests ordering the Pasta Mista experience can expect a warm, traditional style of dining centred around sharing, generosity and comfort food inspired by classic Italian family tables.
