Slow-Cooked Comfort, Seasonal Specials and One of Nino's Favourite Dishes

Winter has a way of bringing people together. As Melbourne's evenings turn cooler, there's something special about gathering around a table, sharing a bottle of wine and enjoying food that's been prepared with time, care and tradition.

A Note from Nino

"July is when I feel the kitchen's purpose most. The cooler evenings bring everyone together. Tables filled with conversation, wine poured freely and a shared appreciation for food prepared with patience. This month, I'm sharing one of my most beloved dishes. It takes hours to braise properly, but the tenderness of rabbit, the way it surrenders to wine, herbs and thyme, reminds me why we do this. I hope you'll join us."

This July at Geppetto Trattoria, we've put together a collection of seasonal showstoppers that celebrate exactly that.

July's Showstoppers

  • Braised Rabbit - Slow braised with red wine, herbs and thyme until beautifully tender. A true winter classic and one of Nino's favourite dishes.

  • Gratinated Sardines - Fresh sardines baked with a golden gratinated topping for a simple yet deeply flavourful Mediterranean dish.

  • Lamb Osso Buco - Fall-apart tender lamb, slowly braised and served with creamy mash for the ultimate comfort food.

A Taste of an Italian Winter in East Melbourne

Since 1981, Geppetto has been serving traditional Italian food inspired by family recipes and the seasons. Winter is one of our favourite times of year, when slow-cooked dishes take centre stage and the kitchen fills with the aromas of herbs, rich sauces and hours of careful preparation.

Whether you're joining us before a match at the MCG, heading to a concert at Melbourne Park or simply looking for a memorable dinner in East Melbourne, our July specials are available for a limited time.

If you've been looking for authentic Italian winter dining in Melbourne, this is the perfect month to visit.
